Case study 1997: Kennametal Widia (I) Ltd, Bangalore This was the first installation of Wrench® and was in the year 1997. The Engineering department possesses 21 Nos of AutoCAD 2000 Mechanical Power Pack licenses on a Local area network (LAN). Wrench was customised to manage the for Project information, BOM information, drawing numbering and revision procedure as per the WIDIA standards. The implementation was completed in duration of 8 months. Presently all drawings and documents generated in the design department are archived in the system on-line without physical archival of drawings and documents. All existing manual drawings \ documents (Approx 1 Lakh) were scanned using an A0 size scanner and stored in the system. Physical drawings and documents were destroyed once they had been put into the Wrench® system. These drawings/documents are accessed on-line by other departments such as Shop floor, Planning, Purchase, Stores, Sales and Quality. Wrench® has been integrated with SAP R/3. Bill of Material and other related data is downloaded to SAP R/3 instantaneously. Order information is uploaded from SAP to Wrench.
